Equipment Support Stands

There are different types of equipment support stands that Manufacturing Packaged Systems can provide, from seismic to standard support stands that can hold the load of a Computer Room AC (CRAC) unit, HVAC systems, Uninterrupted Power Source (UPS) cabinet and battery cabinet. MPS offers custom manufacturing of these support stands to meet the unique needs of each our customers. MPS can provide custom equipment support stands for shelters and large equipment as well.

Located in Millington, Maryland, MPS can custom fabricate heavy duty and extra heavy duty support stands to handle large loads, machinery and extremely heavy load requirements. Our fabricators are ASME certified welders and pipe fitters, master electricians and control technicians. We offer you a solution that is highly flexible and price competitive. No matter the application, our lead times are some of the shortest in the industry. We also offer quick ship options for select systems.

An Example of a custom manufactured Seismic rated floor stand:

Seismic Steel-framed floor stand, for the support of an 80 KV A UPS cabinet and batteries, to be installed at the above referenced building. We have analyzed the floor stand under the seismic design requirements of the 2006 International Building Code (mC) and the 2005 ASCE-7, Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures. JVA has evaluated the seismic resistance of the floor stand assembly only. Our evaluation does not address the structural capacity of the building framing system in supporting the gravity and seismic loads due to the installation of the UPS and battery cabinets.

Our analysis of the floor stand has been based on the following information provided by Mechanical Packaged Systems (MPS):

  1. A cut-sheet of an 80 KV A UPS module, dated April 2, 2003, indicating a maximum cabinet weight of 2,700Ibs.
  2. A cut-sheet of a 25" wide battery cabinet, dated January 23, 2003, indicating a maximum weight of 3,000 lbs for each battery cabinet.
  3. Schematic drawing of a 32.7" wide x 89.6" long x 30" high seismic floor stand, for the support of one (1) 80 KVA UPS module and two (2) battery cabinets.
The seismic floor stand consists of a fully welded, steel platform framed with C4x5.4 horizontal members and approximately 2'-0" high C4x5.4 vertical legs. Adjustable 3/4" diameter x 6" long threaded rods are connected to the channel assembly, with double nuts above and below steel plates located at the base of each C4 vertical leg. The bottom of each threaded rod is connected to a 112" thick x 6" x 9" steel floor mounting plate with two (2) 5/8" diameter holes. Note: The 3/4" diameter threaded rod length shall not exceed 8". Per ASCE-7, Chapter 13: Seismic Design Requirements for Nonstructural

Components, we analyzed the structural capacity of the floor stand under the following site-specific seismic parameters:

US Latitude/Longitude: 38.78699, -104.71362 (25 mile radius) Site Class: D (per mc Section 1613.5.2) Spectral Acceleration (short-period), Sos: 0.216 Component Importance Factor, Ip: 1.5 Component Amplification Factor, ap: 1.0 Component Response Modification Factor, Rp: 2.5 Component Operating Weight, W p: 8,700 lbs + floor stand weight
